FLOWER POWER FAIRS holds its second event at the delightful CONSTABLE BURTON HALL near Leyburn on Sunday 19 June.

Constable Burton Hall is one of the highlights of Wensleydale and has sweeping gardens overlooking the park and leading through woodland looking down to the river below. It celebrates spring each year with its famous tulip displays. Early summer provides a variety of scent, colour and mood throughout the garden fo visitors to Constable Burton Hall Gardens.

The woodland terraced garden with its majestic cedars frame the Palladian house. Plants of interest include many varieties of Acer palmatum, Acer japonica, and magnolia. Large groups of perennials and ground cover add a rich tapestry of colour in summer.

The Herbaceous borders give a riot of form and colour throughout the spring and summer to this area of the garden, with the willow leaved Pear (Pyrus salicifolia Pendula) providing structure to the borders.

The Beck and Pond areas offers the visitors an area of tranquillity, keeping all planting schemes in simple form. The buttress walls to he rear of the pond offers shelter to various climbing roses these include Rosa Mme Alfred Carriere and the beautiful Rosa Constance Spry with its clear pink blooms

The fair will be on the Cedar lawn beside the house and features many of the top Northern growers. "The quality and choice at these plant fairs always amazes me," says organiser, Judy Popley "and again, all the plants on sale are grown by the seller. They are passionate about their plants and will offer good advice as to the best conditions to grow them in. The selections available are vast but will include ornamental trees and shrubs, herbaceous perennials, alpines, woodland plants, hardy fuchsia and lots more."

Refreshments will be available throughout the day and admission to the gardens and plant fair is the normal garden admission of £4.00. Parking is free.
