I've been told that it is best to raise the length of my grass going in to the autumn. I've never done this before, I just keep it the same length all year round. What length should the grass be ideally in the autumn? It's not a grade "A" lawn, just something for my boys to have a knock-about on. I currently keep it about an inch long.

Hi Bob, I'd say you'd be okay keeping your grass at an inch if your boys don't run amok on your lawn in the winter. If they are having a kick-about with a football you may want to increase the length a little, as it will stop the ground getting cut up so rough. The grass will stop growing by the end of the month, so if you are going to increase the length of your grass you'd best let it grow up now.
